Littleton Hockey Association Announces Move to the Atlantic Hockey Federation (AHF)
*Expanded Opportunities, Reduced Travel, and National Competition Await LHA Tier II Teams*
Littleton, CO — May 31, 2025 — The Littleton Hockey Association (LHA) is thrilled to announce that, after many successful seasons competing in the Central States Developmental Hockey League (CSDHL), we are making an exciting strategic move to join the Atlantic Hockey Federation (AHF) for the 2025–2026 season.
This transition marks a significant step forward in our commitment to delivering an elite, development-focused hockey experience for all our Tier II players. Beginning next season, all eligible LHA Tier II teams from 12U AA through 18U AA will compete in the AHF, a move that brings with it a host of benefits for our athletes, families, and program.
“This move represents more than just a change in league — it's a bold step into a new era for LHA,” said Luke Fulghum, Hockey Director of Littleton Hockey Association.
“Joining the AHF aligns perfectly with our long-term development goals. The league’s foundation is built on integrity, transparency, and a deep commitment to competitive balance — all values that reflect our mission at Littleton. Most importantly, this move supports the advancement of our players by giving them consistent opportunities to grow, compete, and be seen at the next level.”
AHF Commisioner Tony Zasowski exclaimed, "The AHF is excited to add the highly prestigious and nationally recognized Littleton Hawks, our league prides itself as one of the best leagues in the country and LHA will be a great addition, we look forward to a great season and partnership in the future."
Why AHF? Here’s What It Means for Our AA Families:
• Unified League Structure – All of our Tier II teams will now compete under one league umbrella, allowing for streamlined scheduling, consistent expectations, and aligned competition across age levels.
• Reduced Travel Footprint – The AHF offers multiple regional competition weekends and structured showcase events — allowing us to reduce the number of long, cross-country trips while still providing high-caliber competition.
• National Exposure & Advancement Opportunities – AHF teams compete in professionally organized showcases and are included in a transparent, national rankings system. This structure increases visibility for our players and supports future opportunities in junior and collegiate hockey.
• Fresh Competition in New Regions – This move introduces our teams to new programs across the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic, providing a fresh competitive environment that will challenge and motivate our athletes.
• Elite League Management – The AHF is operated by full-time hockey professionals and rink owners — ensuring smooth operations, high standards, and a developmental model that puts players first
What This Means for A, B, and CRHL Level and Families:
While this move directly impacts our Tier II teams, the benefits extend across the entire LHA structure —including our A, B, and CRHL recreational levels.
Stronger Internal Development Model – With Tier II teams competing at a consistent, national standard, younger and developing players will benefit from clearer expectations and pathways as they move up through the ranks.
Elevated Coaching Standards – The AHF’s league-wide commitment to professionalism and development will influence our program structure at every level, raising the bar for coaching, communication, and team support.
Improved Ice Allocation & Scheduling Balance – By aligning Tier II travel schedules through AHF’s regional model, LHA gains more flexibility for local programming — resulting in stronger practice and game consistency for our CRHL teams.
Culture of Excellence – A unified standard of accountability and growth benefits all families, and younger players will be motivated by the opportunity to one day compete in the same national environment.
This move isn't just about where our teams play — it’s about who we are as a program and what kind of experience we want to provide for every LHA player, from beginner to elite.
AHF & USA Hockey National Championship Success
The AHF is more than just a league — it's a proven pipeline to national prominence. AHF member clubs consistently qualify for USA Hockey National Championships, representing some of the most successful Tier II programs in the country.
- In 2023, AHF member teams won two USA Hockey Tier II National Championships.
- AHF clubs regularly advance deep into Nationals, showcasing the strength and depth of competition in the league.
- The league’s structure and competitive parity help prepare teams for the intensity and exposure of postseason play at the highest level of Tier II hockey.
What’s Next?
All 12U AA through 18U AA teams will begin preparation for their inaugural season in the AHF immediately following team selections. Details on scheduling, travel expectations, and showcases will be shared in the coming weeks. We are energized by what this move means for the future of LHA and are confident it will elevate the experience for every player in our Tier II program. Thank you for your continued trust and support — we can’t wait to hit the ice this fall in the AHF!
GO HAWKS!!!
